We were delighted to welcome over 200 contributors and delegates (in-person and online) to the inaugural Music and Parental Wellbeing Symposium (MPWS) at the Royal College of Music London and online on 22-23 July 2025.
To coincide with the Symposium, Music and parental wellbeing: A position paper – was published open access in Music & Science. Please find HERE.
MPWS 2025 brought together interdisciplinary and international delegates to advance understanding of how music can support parental wellbeing.
The two days included keynote sessions featuring Professor Lauren Stewart with Jaliba Kuyateh and Dr Bonnie McConnell; and Professor Helen Shoemark in conversation with Kirsty Jane.
The event saw the launch of the Music and Parental Wellbeing Alliance (MPWA) to push forwards future work on music and parental wellbeing.

We were delighted to host the online book launch of “Music and Parental Mental Wellbeing” edited by Rosie Perkins, and published by Oxford University Press. This comprehensive volume brings together global research and expertise at the intersection of music and parental mental wellbeing, and includes chapters by many network members.
